In what was the wildest college football coaching cycle the sport has seen, Auburn AD John Cohen appeared to work thoroughly and, perhaps more importantly, under the radar.

While many of the eyes were on the Lane Kiffin sweepstakes , Auburn appeared to fly under the radar in terms of sensational speculation and attention-grabbing headlines.

In the end, Cohen hired Alex Golesh as Auburn’s new coach .

That’s not to say there weren’t any, but, in comparison, appeared to dig in and get to work.

In fact, there was no truth to speculation that a decision on a coach was impacted by the outcome of the Iron Bowl against Alabama.

“In fact, we had not numbers in front of Alex and his agent prior to the game,” Cohen said.
