Norwell football coach Jason Pithie can still remember the loss to end the 2023 season. As offensive coordinator for top-seeded Norwell that year, he helped the program record its first winning season since 2019.

While the 2023 regular season was a success, winning was still new to many of players. The team started freshman Jack Luccarelli at quarterback.

After taking care of business in the first round of the MIAA playoffs, Norwell fell to the eventual-champions, No. 8 Fairhaven, in the quarterfinals, 28-14.

“They were exactly what we didn’t need to run into,” Pithie recalled. “They were big, strong, and they kept the ball away from our offense as much as possible.”
