On December 3, 2015, Scott Weiland passed away at the age of 48 while on tour with his band the Wildabouts.

Flashing forward to 2025, an unreleased song called "If I Could Fly" was released for Black Friday Record Store Day.

The song was written in 2000 after the birth of his son Noah, and "balances uplifting verses of laid back acoustic guitar with a soaring rock chorus."
