CLOQUET, Minn. (Northern News Now) - Carlton County residents can now receive post-sexual-assault care closer to home after Program for Aid to Victims of Sexual Assault (PAVSA) expanded their program offering specialized exams to a hospital in Cloquet, Minn.
Those with PAVSA say the expansion is an effort to make seeking care as easy as possible for victims.
“We consider it a gift when somebody chooses to come to the emergency room to receive post-sexual assault care,” said sexual assault nurse examiner Alisha Blazevic. “We don’t want patients to have the burden of leaving their community and trying to find transportation.”
On Wednesday, PAVSA launched its Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) Program at Community Memorial Hospital in Cloquet, Minn.
Victims can now receive a free medica
