Yesterday, we got to talking about smells that technically are yucky, but some folks seem to strangely enjoy. Like puppy breath, skunks, and even gasoline! One of my best friends LOVES the smell of her cat's nasty fish breath. I even have a couple of confessions to make myself if you keep reading. But why? Why isn't EVERYONE grossed out by offending odors?

Obviously, all humans are different. Some studies have shown that our preferences for taste and smell begin in the womb. Others believe that when someone favors the scent of, say, gasoline, it's because they are feeling a sense of nostalgia when they get a whiff. Reminding them of a family road trip, or summertime fun outside while neighbors mow their grass.
