BUFFALO, N.Y. — Students, teachers, and staff with Buffalo Public Schools will be able to skate for free this season after the district received 46,000 tickets to Canalside, donated by the Rich Entertainment Group and Highmark.

The tickets, valued at more than half a million dollars, will be distributed across Buffalo Public Schools and can be used during public skating hours at the popular downtown rink. District officials said the donation provides families and school communities an opportunity to enjoy outdoor recreation throughout the winter.

The Ice at Canalside will remain open through the end of February. Families across Western New York recently kicked off their Thanksgiving celebrations after the downtown rink opened for the first time this holiday season that day.
