CHEYENNE — On Wednesday, the Wyoming Legislature’s Joint Appropriations Committee reviewed the future of technology investment in state government.
The discussion centered not only on the $8.29 million funding request for the Technology Replacement Program (TRP), but also on a proposed legislative solution aimed at eliminating hundreds of recurring budget debates and potentially increasing efficiency for state technology.
The TRP manages the refreshing of obsolete or end-of-life hardware and software across state agencies. The program is managed by Wyoming’s Enterprise Technology Services. ETS recommends replacing standard desktops and laptops during the fifth year of service.
Historically, reviewing technology needs proved cumbersome. State Budget Department Director Kevin Hibbard note
