COLONIAL HEIGHTS, Va. (WWBT) - A former Patient First nurse is facing 31 felony charges after being accused of tampering with patients’ medication.
According to Patient First, there were 14 patients potentially affected by this.
Teressa Keiter made her first court appearance this week and was denied bond. The longtime Patient First nurse is also at risk of losing her nursing license.
The charges include one count of possessing a Schedule I drug, 15 counts of obtaining drugs illegally, and 15 counts of adulteration of drugs.
12 On Your Side legal analyst Steve Benjamin said the adulteration charges are the most serious.
“What the prosecution will have to demonstrate is that she did it with the intent to kill or injure another person. And that may be a challenge,” Benjamin said.
