SALEM, Ore. — A child is recovering in the hospital after being attacked by what her mother said were two pit bulls on Sunday afternoon.

The child was walking to the front door of her family's Salem apartment with her 3-year-old sister, when her mother Merissa Corron told KGW News that she noticed the neighboring tenant's door swing open. Then, the two dogs came lunging out.

Corron's 3-year-old daughter was able to get away, but the dogs latched on to her youngest.

“My little girl, I couldn't get to her in time, so the dogs had pushed right past me, and lunged at her. The female, more aggressive dog had latched onto her head, and the other dog had gone more for the back of her body,” said Carron.
