MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) - It was an exciting Wednesday at American Family Children’s Hospital as Kriss Kringle swapped out his sleigh for a fire truck during his parade visit.

Hosted by Madison Firefighters Local 311, local firefighters drove around the hospital alongside Santa Claus, waving to patients and their families.

Local 311 donated money to buy gifts for each patient at the hospital.

Santa said making people smile during a hard time is what it’s all about.

“Unfortunately their families are in a tough spot,” Mr. Kringle said. “Whether it’s a sibling or a patient, just bringing a little bit of normalcy or seeing a smile and knowing what that can do for them, it makes all the difference.”

The gifts for children will be handed out later this month.
