WAPELLO COUNTY, Iowa (KCRG) - Authorities rescued a dog that had fallen through a partially frozen pond in Wapello County.
Sheriff’s deputies responded Tuesday and found the dog treading water, unable to get out.
Deputies called Wapello County Rural Fire Chief Loren McIntosh, who rushed to the scene and used a nearby kayak to reach the middle of the pond.
The dog, named Doug Doug, is doing well following the rescue.
“Chief McIntosh, a volunteer, dropped everything to help save another family’s loved one without even thinking about it,” the Wapello County Sheriff’s Office said in a Facebook post.
