SEATTLE — A once-vacant and vandalized building in Seattle’s Ballard neighborhood is getting a second life after sitting empty for nearly two years.
For four decades, the space at 15th Avenue Northwest and Northwest 83rd Street was home to Morgan’s Kitchen and Bath. When the longtime business closed its doors in 2023 when the owners retired, the property quickly deteriorated — attracting graffiti, broken windows, and even squatters.
Now, that story is changing. Becky Ducsik, owner and president of The Phinery , an interior design company, has purchased the nearly 10,000-square-foot property and moved her interior design studio and home store into the renovated space.
“I’d definitely say we’ve given the building new life and a sense of purpose here on 15th Avenue,” Ducsik said.
