HONOLULU (Island News) -- Honolulu police are searching for armed gunmen who broke into a home on St. Louis Heights, an early-morning attack that left neighbors on high alert after the attack.

In a quiet neighborhood on St. Louis Heights, Honolulu police are investigating an armed robbery that left one man in the hospital.

"I don't know how we can protect ourselves,” said neighbor Anastasia Ahafonova. “So can they break the door, break the window? And what are the reasons they come like just to steal something or they knew those people?"

Police said two men carrying guns broke into a home on Alencastre Street, attacking a 58-year-old man asleep in his bedroom shortly before 2:30 a.m. on Tuesday morning.
