HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - It’s been 16 years since Kamehameha Kapalama hoisted a football State Championship trophy.
It was so long ago that the current players were just a few years old when it happened.
However, for this group of Warriors, the work started when Kaeo Drummondo took the program over in 2023.
It’s been a gradual process, going 4-5 in 2023 and 5-4 last season.
“It’s been two and a half years of working toward this,” Head coach Drummondo said. “It’s a lot of hard work, a lot of sacrifice, extremely proud of our team.”
It’s a squad that has no shortage of star power, but its foundation is built on selfless players willing to put the team first.
“Some players that weren’t really expected to step up, stepped up and played major roles this year,” Drummondo said.
