The New York Power Authority has hired a former chairman of the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission to ease the path to federal approval for more nuclear power in upstate New York.
Christopher Hanson, who was fired from his federal role by the Trump administration in June, will now advise NYPA as a senior consultant, working with Todd Josifovski, a veteran of nuclear power development in Canada tapped this week by NYPA to serve as its senior vice president for nuclear development.
As project director for Ontario Power Generation’s, Josifovski oversaw upgrades to the Darlington Nuclear Power Plant on Lake Ontario. His salary with NYPA, as advertised by the agency in July, will be between $258,000 and $300,000.
