A Camden defense that had allowed just 31 points in its first four playoff games was at its turnover-causing best with the NJSIAA/Infinity Group 2 final on the line.
The 13th-ranked Panthers created five turnovers, four on interceptions, to hold the No. 19 Shabazz offense at bay on their way to a 27-8 victory Wednesday at Rutgers University’s SHI Stadium.
Below are the five players who shined the brightest during the Group 2 final.
Roman Duckett, Camden, Jr., RB/LB
Duckett carried 16 times for a game-high 93 yards and scored on a 3-yard run in the third quarter to help the Panthers claim their first state championship. He accumulated all but 22 of his yards in the second half to help extend a 14-0 lead. Duckett closed his season with 730 rushing yards and nine touchdowns on 108 attempt
