An Ocean County race track will not open for racing in the 2026 as its owner seeks someone to take over operations.
Fred Vahlsing, owner of New Egypt Speedway , located on Route 539 in Plumsted Township, made the announcement Monday.
Vahlsing, who has helmed the race track for 19 years, said he is seeking a buyer or another party to operate the speedway for the upcoming season and beyond.
As of Wednesday, no buyers were announced.
In the meantime, truck parking and space for lease will still be available at the property, along with sales of VP Racing Fuels, officials said.
Plans call for the site’s quarter midget track to continue operating for the South Jersey Quarter Midget Association.
Quarter midget racing is for kids ages 5 to 16 and involves fully suspended race cars,
