The chapel at a Nuneaton cemetery has been closed over safety concerns. Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council says that it has taken the precautionary measure at Oaston Road Cemetery after structural concerns were raised.
The Town Hall has said that it means that locals will not be able to visit the chapel until full surveys have taken place. But it has stressed that the cemetery itself remains open.
It was during maintenance works that contractors found the 'structural concerns'. The council has said that while there is 'no immediate danger' to the public, the chapel is now out of bounds while surveys take place to decide if any works are needed.
"The extent to which works are required to make the chapel structurally sound is unknown at this time, however, the cemetery remains open
