Nuneaton wildlife sanctuary says it has been made to take an 'emotional' decision in the wake of confirmed bird flu cases in Warwickshire . CoventryLive reported that cases of avian influenza A(H5N1) in the wild bird populations at Kingsbury Water Park were yesterday (December 3) confirmed by the Department for the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) and the Animal and Plant Health Agency (APHA).
While the Nuneaton and Warwickshire Wildlife Sanctuary has said it has no cases, Geoff Grewcock, its founder has announced that they have taken a precautionary measure due to the risk posed to birds in their care. This means that it will not currently accept any injured birds into the Oaston Road-based sanctuary.
