The historic run of the Indiana University football team has brought smiles to long-suffering fans — and it also has filled cash registers of local shops, hotels and restaurants .
“Although IU football has always been a huge positive economic impact on the region, of course that impact has increased significantly due to the success of the football team,” said Mike McAfee, executive director of Visit Bloomington. “That’s what happens when you go from hosting 40,000 people on a Saturday to more than 55,000 much happier fans.”
