DILWORTH — Call it “mid-century muttern.”

A historic Dilworth motel which beckoned many a weary traveler along Highway 10 — including none other than Muhammad Ali — has found new life as a dog-grooming salon with a midcentury-modern vibe.

As of Dec. 1, the old StarLite Motel at 900 Center Ave. E. opened as the fully renovated StarLite Pet Spaw, says Katie Olson, who owns the business with fiance Travis Golobich.

Olson and Golobich also built and opened the StarLite Pet Motel & Daycare over a year ago on the north side of the motel property.

The young couple has formed a productive partnership with property owner, Rick Halvorson, who ran the StarLite Motel until 2021 and whose construction company gave the iconic motel its midmod facelift.
