Corey Oliver, of Thorsby, was sentenced to life without the possibility of parole for first-degree rape.
Oliver was convicted in July of strangling, beating and raping a woman at knifepoint. However, Robinson said Oliver had a history of victimizing women and children with more than 10 prior felony convictions and approximately 40 arrests.
“Oliver was a direct beneficiary of the hug-a-thug policies of prison reform that plagued Alabama citizens for nearly ten years,” Robinson stated. “Thank God we have come to our senses recently and started empowering our law enforcement, DA’s and judges to protect the public.”
