9SOUTH RIVER, NJ – Sections of Main Street will be closed Thursday as contractors working for Middlesex County continue removing century-old trolley tracks buried beneath the roadway, police announced.
According to the South River Police Department, the next phase of work will take place near Obert Street, with full closures of Main Street in both directions between Reid Street and Stephen Street.
The closures are expected to cause traffic disruptions throughout the day.
Traffic detours and restrictions in place
Police said motorists entering South River from Sayreville will only be able to turn right onto Reid Street, while Ferry Street will be closed between Washington Street and Main Street. Officers will be stationed at traffic posts during construction hours to help residents and
