HENDERSONVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - Two Sumner County parents are mourning the death of their daughter.
Bentlee Springer, 13, was killed following an ATV accident during Thanksgiving break in Missouri.
Her family says she crashed into a tree, and her chest was crushed, leading to a brain injury.
“Our hearts are just broken so bad,” Bentlee’s dad, Malcom Springer, explained. We’re just trying to figure out how we’re going to make it as a family."
The incident caused Bentlee to end up in the intensive care unit at a Memphis hospital.
Her family made the difficult decision to take her off life support this past weekend.
“You feel like your best years are behind you because how can there be good years without her?” Springer explained.
It was reportedly the teen’s first time riding on an ATV.
