Vladimir Putin has been found “morally responsible” for the death of Dawn Sturgess, a 44-year-old mother-of-three who was poisoned by Novichok left on British streets by Russian agents, an inquiry has ruled. ‌

Sturgess died in July 2018, three weeks after spraying herself with a discarded bottle of the deadly nerve agent, which she had mistaken for perfume. ‌

Her partner, Charlie Rowley, also fell ill but survived, as did Detective Sergeant Nick Bailey and former Russian spy Sergei Skripal and his daughter Yulia, who were poisoned four months earlier. ‌

Lord Hughes, chairman of the inquiry, described the attack as a “public demonstration of Russian state power for both international and domestic impact.”
