MACON, Ga. — Diners at the Macon Golden Corral were evacuated Wednesday night after an electrical fire erupted in the dinning room's ceiling, according to Macon-Bibb Lead Fire Investigator Kyle Murray.
They say it happened at around 8:10 p.m. Wednesday evening.
Murray said firefighters responded to the restaurant, located at 4704 Presidential Parkway, after reports of smoke inside the restaurant.
While the fire was not visible from the outside, they located the smoke and fire in the ceiling area of the dining room, Murray said.
At the time, he says diners had already been safely evacuated from the business.
The fire was quickly extinguished after firefighters removed the ceiling material, the fire department says, which then prevented further spread within the building.
