Penn State’s head coaching search — now past the 50-day mark — looked for about 24 hours that it was close to wrapping up.
The Nittany Lions nearly completed a deal for BYU’s Kalani Sitake. But he decided to stay in Provo, Utah, to continue coaching his alma mater.
And now, athletic director Pat Kraft seems like he might have overplayed his hand. Penn State has whiffed on its biggest targets to this point and must scramble.
In the meantime, the Nittany Lions put together one of the worst recruiting classes in the country on Wednesday’s national signing day, adding just one player in the 2026 class.
