If you want to feel as though you are stepping straight into Dickensian London, look no further than The Festive Feast, a full-blown A Christmas Carol dining experience staged by The Lost Estate, and in my eyes, it already has won the title of best Dickens adaptation at Christmas. I’ve seen all the films (of course, The Muppets’ version is a personal favourite), the ballets, the West End runs, but nothing compares to watching Ebenezer Scrooge repent for his sins in a room lit by candles while enjoying a glass of port.
From the moment I walked into the venue, it was clear this was more than a retelling, as the incredible property in West Kensington was transformed into a living Victorian set with candlelit banquets, clattering cutlery, and staff who stayed in character throughout.
