Police say they have arrested a woman in connection with a Waterbury shooting over the weekend, one of two that rocked the city.

Jessica Towels, 39, of Meriden, faces multiple felonies in connection with the Nov. 29 shooting, Waterbury police said.

Police were in the area when they heard gunshots around 1:45 a.m. on Grand Street, but when they arrived, they couldn’t find the victim. Later that morning, a 39-year-old man checked himself into an area hospital with gunshot wounds to his arm and abdomen, Waterbury police said.

Towels is charged with assault in the first degree, illegal discharge of a firearm, criminal use of a weapon, negligent storage of a firearm, criminal mischief, reckless endangerment, and possession of a controlled substance, authorities said.

Investigators believe the shooting involved two groups of individuals and that there is no ongoing threat to the community.

Towels was held on a $300,000 bond, authorities said. She’ll return to court on Dec. 12.

The shooting remains under investigation.

Authorities are asking anyone with information to contact Waterbury detectives at 203-574-6941.
