GRAND RAPIDS, MI – Brayden Sweeney was always on a path to football stardom, just ask anyone around the Grand Rapids Catholic Central football team.
And though that path strayed from its original trajectory, it worked out pretty well for the senior safety, who officially joined the Purdue University football team during Wednesday’s early signing period.
“It felt good,” Sweeney said of signing with the Boilermakers. “Ever since I committed, I knew I was going to stay loyal to them, and I knew it’s the place I want to be.”
Considered a three-star prospect and the state’s No. 46 player in the class of 2026, Sweeney picked Purdue over scholarship offers from eight other schools, including most of the Mid-American Conference.
