The Tioga Lady Pirates got the season started with a win over the Bowman County Bulldogs at the Watford City Roughrider Center with a final score of 47-33. In typical season opener fashion, it was a sloppy affair riddled with turnovers and cold shooting, but the Pirate defense and balanced scoring attack gave them the win and the 1-0 record to start the season.

Pirate senior Cheryl Hayes scored the first 5 points of the evening to give Tioga an early 5-0 lead. Triples from Mercedes Travis and Ava Wallin drew the lead to 11-0, a fast break bucket from Hayes made it 13-0, and a couple of free throws from Theea Johnson made it 15-0. The Bulldogs failed to take the lid of the rim until with just 11 seconds remaining in the first quarter, making it 15-2 in favor of the Pirates after 1. kA 5
