Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport plans to be among the first in the nation to offer a self-driving shuttle.
The pilot program will be a partnership between Ace Parking and Ohmio autonomous vehicles and will initially include a safety attendant onboard, Sky Harbor’s Senior Business Manager William Robinson told a Phoenix Aviation subcommittee on Tuesday.
Robinson did not announce a planned launch date for the pilot program but indicated the Aviation Department would be releasing more information about the program soon.
The single autonomous, electric shuttle will be added to the additional shuttles that transport passengers between the the East Economy Parking Facility and the airport's terminals, Robinson told the Aviation Planning and Development Subcommittee.
