A mother who tragically found her 16-month-old daughter dead in her cot is urging parents to trust their instincts when children show even subtle signs of illness.

Lisa Fifield, 36, born in Liverpool and now living between Essex and Spain, gave birth to her daughter Ophelia Lily Ada Fifield with her husband, Erol, 46, on October 5, 2023. Lisa, a makeup artist, described Ophelia as an “old soul” who was very happy, loved people, and was obsessed with bananas.

“She was really peaceful, like an old soul type of baby. Some babies can be wary with strangers, she wasn’t like that. She really trusted people. She loved laughing, was always giggling, and very rarely cried,” Lisa said.
