A weather alert was issued by the National Weather Service on Thursday at 9:54 a.m. for lake effect snow and showers until 1 p.m. for Oneida County.

"A quick burst of Lake Effect snow showers will move through the area this morning and early afternoon and can be heavy at times. If traveling, watch out for rapidly changing conditions including slippery roads and low visibility," according to the weather service.
