One woman’s attempt to escape the attention of the law resulted in a power outage in Placentia early this morning

RCMP tried to pull a speeding vehicle over on the Argentia Access around 4:40 this morning, but instead of stopping, the driver sped away towards Placentia.

The woman crashed her vehicle into a playground a short time later, striking a power pole and causing extensive damage.

A number of power lines were downed in the incident, disrupting power and forcing the temporary closure of the highway between Jerseyside and Freshwater.

The 33-year-old woman was taken to hospital as a precaution.

She’s expected to appear in court at a later date on one count of flight from police.
