PIKEVILLE, Ky. (WYMT) - The man accused of killing Prestonsburg woman Amber Spradlin appeared in court Monday, where a judge made modifications to his bond and set a new trial date. Wednesday, his attorneys asked for another modification to his bond conditions.

M.K. McKinney is charged with murder and eight counts of complicity to tampering with physical evidence. Though his trial was expected to begin Monday, that day was changed to a pretrial conference and the official start date was moved to May 11, 2026.

During Monday’s court hearing, Judge Eddy Coleman granted a modification to McKinney’s original $5 million cash bond. The new bond conditions would allow McKinney to be released on home incarceration if he pays $400,000 in cash and posts a property bond worth $1 million. That proper
