BARABOO, Wis. — A Reedsburg man was sentenced to 15 years in prison earlier this year for his role in what authorities say was one of Sauk County’s largest cocaine seizures in the past 25 years.
Sauk County Circuit Judge Michael Screnock sentenced 29-year-old Jaoshua Alberto Vargas-Sanchez, to a 25-year sentence: 15 years of initial confinement and 10 years of extended supervision.
This "high-volume drug trafficking conspiracy" involved cocaine shipped from Puerto Rico to Wisconsin, according to the Sauk Co. DA and prosecutor Michael X. Albrecht.
Vargas-Sanchez pleaded guilty in August to conspiracy to commit possession with intent to deliver more than 40g of cocaine, second or subsequent offense, a Class C felony and one of the most serious drug trafficking charges in the state.
