December babies, forgotten no more. For those with birthdays close to Christmas or New Year's whose big day gets absorbed into the holiday celebrations, a supermarket chain is offering a sweet treat specifically to honor you.

Publix launched a new campaign last month aimed at properly celebrating those with birthdays butting up against the end-of-year holidays. The chain is selling "Merry Birthday" cakes, two-tier and one-tier cakes described as "part birthday cake and part holiday dessert."

For those with birthdays often overshadowed by Santa Claus, here's what you need to know about Publix's new dessert.

What is the Publix 'Merry Birthday' cake?

According to the Publix website, the Merry Birthday cake comes in two sizes – one-tier and two-tier.

The larger version has two tiers of six-layer cakes, either in chocolate or vanilla, and is iced with pink buttercream and topped with green buttercream Christmas trees and white buttercream swirls. The cake also features edible glitter, buttercream candy canes, red and green sprinkles, buttercream bows, Maraschino cherries, red buttercream Santa hats and "Merry Birthday" written in icing on the side.

The larger cake serves 18-22 people, according to the store.

The one-tier cake, named the "Merry Birthday Mini Cake," is smaller serving-wise, with only four layers of cake and is estimated to serve five people.

The mini cake is also available in chocolate and vanilla, is iced with pink buttercream and features green buttercream Christmas trees and white buttercream swirls. Similar to the larger cake, there are also red buttercream dots and bows, and Maraschino cherries among other features, but no writing on the dessert.

How to get the Publix 'Merry Birthday' cakes

You can order both cakes online and can purchase the mini cake in stores, according to the chain. If you want to order the cake online, you will need to choose your cake flavor and schedule a date and time to pick it up, as the cakes need to be ordered in advance.

Social media reacts to Publix's new cake

Those with December birthdays have flooded the comment section of Publix's social media posts surrounding the cake, many of them sharing messages of excitement and appreciation that the new treat honors them directly.

"As someone whose birthday is 12/27, this is a dream come true!" one user commented on Publix's Instagram post about the cakes.

"12/25 baby here and I feel SO SEEN," wrote another user on Instagram, who added multiple crying and heart hand emojis after the message.
