Warren County is set to lose its first and only harm reduction center when the Law Enforcement Diversion Program (LEAD) closes its doors as early as Dec. 8, marking the end of a social services initiative that served dozens of people in Phillipsburg.
The program, located on South Main Street, will cease operations and have its resources reallocated from Phillipsburg to satellite locations around the state, according to Anthony Doran, outreach and intake coordinator for Prevention is Key, which spearheaded the program.
“It’s a shame but I think this is the end of the road,” Doran said. He has already made arrangements for future employment.
Mayor Randy Piazza acknowledged the loss.
“It would be a shame to lose this program,” he said. Town officials said they are still working to secure
