More than 2,300 Entergy customers without power in Jefferson Parish

More than 2,300 customers were without power in Jefferson Parish Thursday afternoon, according to Entergy Louisiana.

A vast majority of the affected customers were concentrated north of Barataria Boulevard in Estelle, according to Entergy’s outage map. The outage was reported a little after 12:20 p.m. and Entergy estimated power would be restored around 2:00 p.m.

It’s unclear what caused the blackout, but it occurred as heavy rains drenched the greater New Orleans area for much of the morning and early afternoon.

An Entergy spokesperson said crews were on the scene working to restore power.
