For the fourth straight year Michigan State’s top individual Big Ten honors went to a special teams player.
Ryan Eckley earned that distinction for the second consecutive season when he was named first team all-conference and the Big Ten’s Punter of the Year on Wednesday.
Eckley, who declared for the NFL draft on Tuesday and picked up a Senior Bowl invitation , was one of seven Spartans to earn all-conference honors this week after the team finished with a 4-8 record.
Tight end Jack Velling was named third team All-Big Ten by the media and an honorable mention by the coaches on Thursday while receivers Nick Marsh (coaches and media) and Omari Kelly (media) and center Matt Gulbin (media) were all honorable mentions.
