Mounties say a 70-year-old man from Sherwood Park is dead after his SUV collided head on with a school bus on Highway 814 south of Edmonton.

Wetaskiwin RCMP say it happened Thursday morning shortly before 8 a.m. at Township Road 480 near Millet.

Investigators believe poor road conditions may have been a factor in the crash. An investigation remains ongoing.

There were five people, including four students, aboard the school bus at the time of the collision. None of them were injured.

Mounties remained on scene for several hours investigating.
