It was over two decades ago that a guitarist left an iconic metal band .

Now, this week, the musician has expanded upon his decision to part ways with the group , and how it feels to become a well-regarded artist in an entirely different country.

Marty Friedman — whom many might recognize as the former guitarist of California-hailing Megadeth — appeared on “ Life in Six Strings ” with Kylie Olsson to give a glimpse into his life in Japan. Friedman has been living in the country — and has become embedded in its music scene — since 2003.

“When I left Megadeth, I knew it was time to leave the band,” said Friedman, as transcribed by Blabbermouth.net . “I had nothing left to give the band, they had nothing left for me, and it was a good time for that to happen.”
