Route 159 is closed in Suffield after a serious crash Thursday afternoon.

A car driving south on Route 159 crossed over the double yellow line and collided head-on with a sprinter-style van, according to police.

The driver of the car suffered very serious injuries and was taken to Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, Massachusetts.

The driver and a passenger in the van had minor injuries.

Route 159 was expected to be closed from Boston Neck Road to Bridge Street until further notice. Police urged drivers to find alternate routes.
