President Donald Trump has committed to giving Americans a $2,000 tax refund based on tariffs revenues next year.
Trump's tariffs have been the focus of controversy and debate as many international trade partners have instituted retaliatory tariffs on U.S. imports and created uncertainty in the market this year.
Trump spoke on the potential checks in a Cabinet meeting on Tuesday, Dec. 2, during which he also called the "affordability" issue a "Democrat scam," and appeared to nod off .

Tariffs are paid for by domestic consumers in the form of higher prices on imported goods, Trump indicated when he told reporters on Air Force One on Nov. 14 that tariffs "may in some cases," raise prices.
