TEMPE, Ariz. — The City of Tempe has proposed lowering the speed limit on several roadways throughout the community.

On Dec. 9, the city will host a public meeting at Pyle Adult Recreation Center to gather feedback on potentially reducing speed limits on seven roadways. Each proposal involves reducing the speed limit by 5 mph.

City officials said the goal of changing the speed limit is to "match the function of the roadway and better reflect the current character of these corridors."

The proposed changes include the following:

Broadway Road : Reduce limit down to 40 mph for stretch between Terrace Road and eastern city limit. Also reduce to 40 mph for stretch between Priest Drive to western city limit.

Guadalupe Road : Reduce limit down to 40 mph for stretch between Kyrene Road to e
