Cold air and snowstorms are sweeping across the nation, and Western North Carolina is one of the regions seeing the harshest effects.

While AccuWeather forecaster Dan DePodwin told USA TODAY that the weather "does not appear to be a major winter storm," it will be enough to cause hazardous road conditions over the next several days.
