SIOUX CITY (KTIV) - A Northwest Iowa man pleaded guilty to possession with the intent to distribute fentanyl on Thursday, Dec. 4.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office says 31-year-old Alfredo Soberanes of Sioux City pleaded guilty to one count of possession with the intent to distribute fentanyl.

“At the plea hearing, pursuant of a plea agreement, Soberanes admitted that around midnight on August 31, 2023, in Sioux City, Iowa, law enforcement attempted a traffic stop on his vehicle,” said the attorney’s office. “Soberanes first stopped his vehicle; however, when law enforcement began to approach, he drove away.”

Federal officials say law enforcement did not follow Soberanes’s vehicle, but went to the address, connected to the vehicle’s registration in Sioux City.
