The CIF state football playoffs are upon us, and the state championship games are just two games away. Semifinal games will be played Friday and Saturday before winners head to Southern California for the state championship games.
There are 58 teams competing across 15 divisions — all teams that have won section championships in their respective sections/divisions.
The Northern Section has four teams competing Friday night, with Chico High School the lone team drawing a home game. The Panthers (11-2), the Northern Section Division II champions, will host Oakland-based Bishop O’Dowd (9-4) at 7:30 p.m. Friday in the CIF Division 5-AA semifinals. The winner will play the winner of Cerritos-based Valley Christian (11-3) and El Cajon-based Christian High (7-7).
