This year has been a challenging one for the National Park Service (NPS). From the longest shutdown in U.S. history to the massive layoffs at the beginning of the year and the funding cuts, environmental organizations across the country have been sounding the alarm for months. Yet nonprofits are now claiming that things may get even worse in Utah.

The Department of the Interior (DOI) and the State of Utah held a meeting on December 1 to discuss key management policies at Utah's Mighty Five national parks : Zion, Arches, Canyonlands, Bryce Canyon, and Capitol Reef national parks, as well as Glen Canyon National Recreation Area.
